Surveillance systems supplier CBC (Europe) has unveiled its latest Coaxi.Net product, which turns any standard analog coaxial cable into a high-speed 100baseT Ethernet connection.
Coaxi.Net is a simple and cost effective unit. Always connected in pairs, they both transmit and receive, and are attached to each end of an existing coax cable to complete an RJ45-RJ45 connection. This provides an effective straight-through network link of distances up to 250 metres for full data rate (with up to 350 m at half data rate).
Coaxi.Net means that any coax cable can become a full 100baseT full duplex Ethernet connection, with the devices being fully transparent to the user's network. What is more, they require no set-up: installation involves connecting the coaxial cable, RJ45 cable and power to each end for the link to work. Onboard status LEDs provide visible diagnostics of the link established.
By using a network switch at the camera end, Coaxi.Net can turn a simple analogue camera connection into a multiple IP camera connection in one easy and cost-effective move.
