Integrated time, attendence and access control launched

September 99 Access Control & Identity Management

To satisfy the growing demand for an integrated time, attendance and access control software system, solutions provider Sentri Systems has launched its TRAC system which, according to CEO Norman Wegerle, is one of the first software solutions to address both issues simultaneously and include production/job costing, in true 32 bit Windows format.

The TRAC (time recording and access control) Windows-based system represents the combination of the company's time and attendance and access control packages and was made possible by the use of InterBase, Borland's popular embedded, SQL database.

Rhyan Bridle, the developer of TRAC system, explains, "The goal with this package was to achieve a blanket solution able to handle the time, attendance and access control requirements of any company, irrespective of size, number of staff and the industry in which it operates."

"To do this, we needed an industrial strength database that can handle multiple users in a client/server environment as well as a local, single-user workstation, operate across a wide variety of platforms and does not need a full-time system administrator. InterBase alone measured up to these criteria. With 12 years experience using various databases in numerous different applications, the last three years using InterBase has convinced me of its reliability and robustness."

TRAC, which was written in Delphi over a period of 18 months, also integrates with Sentri's T&A Pro version, Multi User, Time Wizard 2000+, FlexTime, Compu Clox, History Manager and the Work in Progress/Job Costing modules.

The result is a total solution which not only controls 'Who goes where and when?', but also:

p Calculates all the normal and overtime hours worked.

p Indicates lost production time in hours and in rand value.

p Leaves an audit trail of adjustments made.

p Enables staff to clock in/out at a central PC or at their PC workstation.

p Notifies switchboard when staff are out.

p Keeps track of absenteeism, lost time, warnings, promotions and pay rates.

p Tracks the hours spent on jobs versus hours allocated to the job which can then be compared to hours posted to the payroll system.

Looking for dealers

Sentri Systems is currently looking for dealers to market its TRAC system which is locally manufactured and developed. All the required system hardware is readily available, ranging from time terminals, access controllers, job costing terminals, and system readers using iButton touch tags, smartcards, Wiegant, Prox, etc.

The TRAC solution, including InterBase (which is purchased from and supported by local reseller Synectics Software), is sold via a growing, nationwide network of Sentri dealers and has been successfully installed at such diverse clients as Piemans Pantry; Midpak Blow Moulders; Renfreight; C&C Anodisers; and KNL Printers.
