EVIM (electronic visitor identity management) closes the biggest loophole in access control by identifying visitors and registering their details electronically.
It does this using Sagem's GPRS-enabled MorphoTouch 2G terminal with an alpha-numeric keypad, LCD display, fingerprint scanner and thermal printer.
Instead of writing in a visitor book, guests enter their details on the terminal and 'sign' with a fingerprint. Within seconds, EVIM checks the details on a national ID database and confirms the visitor's identity. The terminal then prints a gate pass and the person is cleared to proceed.
Time-based records are stored by EVIM for a minimum of three years and are only available to authorised members of the premises being visited.
Beyond registering and identifying visitors, EVIM features a desktop application for pre-booking visitors, a fast-track process for frequent visitors and can record up to 10 fields of information.
