February 2001 News & Events

The R1,4 billion Montecasino, jointly developed by Togo Sun and Southern Sun, has become the first local site to opt for InfoGenesis to provide the point-of-sale (POS) solution in a deal worth more than R1 million.

This was confirmed by Stoffel de Klerk, Technical Director of VELOCIT-e, the e-commerce security and cashless solutions specialist - which won the POS contract at Montecasino following the recent secural of the local distribution rights to the InfoGenesis POS range.

Commenting further on VELOCIT-e's appointment as the local distributor for InfoGenesis, de Klerk said the company's flagship product, Revelation, is highly regarded internationally. "InfoGenesis is a leading developer and marketer of POS systems for the hospitality and food service industries - markets which we aim to penetrate locally. The company has clients around the globe, including in the USA, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Australia."

Recently, the US-based Aladdin Gaming LLC selected InfoGenesis for its new R10 billion Aladdin Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The contract called for the installation of more than 115 XN touch screen terminals running the Revelation POS software. These new-age devices will operate in 16 profit centres via a 100 Mb Ethernet and two IBM Netfinity file servers.
