Axis Communications has announced the release of the Axis 233D Network Dome Camera, with advanced features such as 35x optical and 12x digital zoom, fast and precise pan/tilt mechanics, wide dynamic range for difficult contrast images and - a first for dome cameras - progressive scan for top image quality with minimal motion blur. In addition, the camera includes electronic image stabilisation (EIS) to reduce the effect of camera vibrations due to traffic or wind.

The AXIS 233D also has a fast pan/tilt performance, with a maximum speed of 450° per second between any of the 100 available preset positions. At the other end of the scale, it offers precision movement of 0,05° per second for slow tracking.

In addition to day/night functionality and superb light sensitivity, the network dome camera provides 128x wide dynamic range and delivers full frame rate video in all resolutions in MPEG-4 or Motion JPEG compression.
