Stuart Pickering, MD at EMS, says negotiations between his company and AIT have reached the stage where it can now be announced that the EMS branded System 42 (S/42) access control and management system can be retrofitted not only with the EMS i-Trac electronic resource management product but also with AIT's proven suite of wireless identification products. This will give users additional functionality and tagging options.

"A number of large corporations have stated that they require the functions offered by S/42 system as well as those provided by AIT and we are now positioned to provide this complementary service," says Pickering.

Welcoming the partnership, Fernando de Sousa, acting MD at AIT, says the market requires a leading edge integrated and flexible solution in the field of access control and asset management. "Through this alliance which complements the skills of both companies we are ideally poised to provide a system which combines the best of both worlds and will satisfy the needs of our customers not only in SA but also on a global scale," says de Sousa.

Pickering adds that EMS's sister company in the UK - I3ST - will benefit enormously from the SA development to address the market in Europe in conjunction with AIT's current international distributor base.
