Mobile DVR with a difference

October 2006 Products & Solutions, Transport (Industry)

Security components distributor Sentronics has announced the launch of a unique mobile digital recorder that can be used to play back high resolution adverts and on board entertainment or marketing clips while performing all the security functions in parallel to this. The mobile recorder, aimed at the public transport industry, uses advanced MPEG4 compression and caters for up to four CCTV cameras and runs as a black box solution on any vehicle. This Black Box approach means that the device not only acts as a security recorder but also allows for the capturing of on board statistics like the speed of the vehicle and the direction in which it turns. In addition to this it is designed to include features such as GPS tracking and remote access by means of GPRS and 3G. Two-way voice communications and transaction overlay for enhanced controls at point of sale is also included.

The product is being tested by integrators and resellers in the security industry and proof of concepts are rolling out at to establish contact with end users and receive the required feedback.
