Pinnacle Micro lands exclusive rights to LG security product range

June 2006 News & Events

Pinnacle CCTV, a division of computer supplier Pinnacle Micro, has been awarded exclusive rights to distribute LG Electronics' new range of electronic security products.

"The joint venture between the two companies is the result of a market survey conducted two years ago, which indicated that there was enormous potential for the LG brand to expand into the South African security sector," says Stephen Hammond, Pinnacle CCTV national sales manager.

"While LG, one of the world's largest manufacturers and suppliers of consumer electronics, information and communications products, had been looking for a bona fide distributor for its CCTV product range, Pinnacle Micro had concurrently been searching for a premium brand to enhance its CCTV, biometrics, access control and Mobile DVR division. This had created an instant synergy between the two parties, resulting in the signing of a deal at the beginning of 2006."

Tasked with overseeing the marketing and sales aspects of the operation with a new and highly trained team, Hammond says Pinnacle CCTV had adopted a multifaceted approach, with a strong focus on providing quality and value for money products to all sectors of the market. In addition, Pinnacle CCTV will also be aiming at satisfying the needs of the country's blue chip companies with the LG range of professional cameras, where there was a strong and growing need for such applications.

On the home front, where intensive market research had shown that property owners were increasingly trying to counter and manage crimes such as housebreaking and theft, Hammond says the range of 'do-it-yourself' kits, with black and white or colour options were ideally suited to this channel.

Pinnacle Micro, which has branches throughout South Africa, has technical specialists supporting its extensive range of products thus the company's clients are assured that they would be on the receiving end of the benefits of constant staff training and upgrading of product knowledge. This will be complemented by readily available technical support and backup on a national basis as well as ongoing marketing and product support from the mother company. Furthermore, the company plans to stay in touch with its client base by using its website as a communication medium while conducting monthly roadshows on regional, national and international basis to introduce the products to interested parties.

"Our goal is to work closely with our installers and other clients to create a win-win situation by providing them with the right products at the right time and at the right price," he said. "We can confidently say that LG's reputation for supplying high calibre technology products will be extended into its CCTV product range."

A world leader in its own right, LG has always been highly regarded for its ongoing research and development programmes, says Hammond, adding that this same pioneering commitment would be applied to its new security product division as an ongoing process. "As such, we are expecting LG's IP (Internet Protocol) range of cameras to be available to the South African market during the last quarter of this year."
