A best of both worlds solution in CCTV

December 2005 Surveillance

Many articles have been written about IP or DVR PC base systems over Internet Protocol and bandwidth, many have good features such as transmission over Internet Protocol, which gives the system manageability over LAN and WAN networks and recording on a server over IP. The only problem, is that we are shifting responsibility to the IT department when security and other specialised functions are the main reason for CCTV, and if the network needs work and administrators prioritise that other functions need attention, the use of visual surveillance could be lost. TRI-BPT with Vision BPT has found a powerful solution to overcome this inherent problem.

The solution is Network DVR with Linux platform which offers a substantial amount of features: Resolution 720x480 Recording, Hardware MPEG4 encoding with live surveillance for each camera, realtime audio and web server with firewall. The operation of the system can be via GUI or remote control to interact with the firmware and can control speed domes. All of this can be controlled from remote sites over the WAN or LAN from different stations with authorisation. Storage is the key to dual functionality, storage and transmission over IP as this DVR comes with 5 bay hot swappable RAID with power supply, and one can add DVD RW. Furthermore, it is possible to have web page customisation, page customisation, firmware upgrade from USB or flash drives, snapshot e-mail, FTP server for alarm triggers.

Finally, this solution does not make your current analog cameras redundant but helps to enhance and ensures that you stay current with the trends of CCTV technologies and satisfy more modern and complex needs of security.
