Lightning current arresters with 'wavebreaker'

November 2005 Security Services & Risk Management

Dehn's Dehnbloc Maxi range of Class 1 lightning current arresters are designed to reliably protect LV installations against surges, even with direct lightning strikes. The devices are used at the LPZ 0A - 1 boundary, and with their high insulation resistance, they can be installed upstream of the supply meter.

Due to its unique encapsulated technology, special safety distances from busbars or other equipment are not required by the arresters and no special flameproof enclosures are necessary. With a discharge capacity of 50 kA (10/350) per pole the DB 1 arresters fulfil the highest requirements of international lightning protection standards.

The Dehnbloc DBM 1 225 L is a coordinated lightning current arrester with high follow on current limitation and operating voltage indication. Dehnbloc NH is designed to protect industrial distribution boards and supply networks. It is suitable for use in size 00 NH fuse holders. Dehnbloc 1 255 H has a follow on current extinguishing capability of 50 kA rms and safely extinguishes mains follow on currents to 50 Hz without tripping of the main circuit breakers under lightning conditions.
