Eclipse from Reditron

September 2005 Surveillance

Reditron has launched a new camera which provides a circular 360° panoramic image of its surroundings, it is called 'Eclipse' and is manufactured in the United Kingdom by Reditron's sister company, Vista.

"Vista Eclipse represents a breakthrough in 360° camera technology that will transform surveillance operations wherever full situational awareness is essential," says Reditron managing director, John Loftus. "This is because, in a single unit, the camera achieves what numerous static and dome cameras cannot achieve together. In particular, it provides continuous panoramic vision and offers subject tracking throughout a 360° field of view."

Vista Eclipse is based on the innovative yet proven Imtera processor and works by capturing a single fisheye image that generates two completely independent analog outputs. Each of these outputs can display any combination of image view, from full 180° panoramic view to up to four virtual cameras (VCAMs), each with independently controllable 'electronic' Pan Tilt Zoom (ePTZ) functionality. Intelligent video processing enables advanced alarm functionality that includes the automatic assignment of virtual cameras for motion detection and alarm activation. The active 'VCAM' automatically tracks any movement within the camera's field of view. Motion detection algorithms use state-of-the-art background analysis techniques to minimise false alarms.
