UEFA Euro 2004 European Championship

September 2005 Surveillance, Products & Solutions

An intense investment programme was realised to build eight new stadia in Portugal and renovate an existing two, apart from other major enhancements in infrastructures.

The matches took place all over the country in the cities of Braga, Guimaraes, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria, Lisboa and Faro/Loulé.

Bosch Security Systems equipped seven stadia with CCTV systems and three with PA and Congress Systems.

The CCTV system included motorised LTC0600 with 12-240 mm zoom lenses for watching the public in the balconies (also some Envirodomes), Dinion for doors, stairs and corridors and Envirodomes for the exterior. The central system is based on Allegiant matrix and recording via Divar (multiplexed recording) and DVR1 for realtime recording directly from the matrix monitors. Due to the distances half of the cameras are on optical fibre. The biggest stadium (Benfica 65 000 spectators) had around 180 cameras.

In the Benfica Stadium, the PA system comprised Praesideo and Bosch's loudspeaker range for emergency and messages for doors, stairs and corridors and LBC 3800 and EAW columns and low impedance amplifiers for the football field. Praesideo system included 18 amplifiers and two call stations.

The conference rooms were equipped with Conference and Translation systems and Active loudspeakers.

In the Coimbra (30 000 spectators) stadium CCTV and PA systems were from Bosch.

CCTV had a similar solution to Benfica and PA was a complete Bosch solution (with the exception of some hi-power loudspeakers) based on Praesideo decentralised solution with three equipment racks in different places (15 amplifiers in total), Bosch loudspeakers and Congress Systems are also used.
