RDC focuses on Durban

September 2005 News & Events

RDC sees KwaZulu-Natal and, in particular, Durban, as an important part of its customer base and a potential growth area. Sales, management and technical staff recently set aside a week to offer free training sessions and to call on customers in the area. "We continue to encourage ever increasing industry professionalism through our training courses", says Lee-Ann Andreka, RDC's marketing director. "Our customers appreciate this free service because the benefits are immediate. Trained technicians install our transmitters correctly, which significantly reduces the number of unnecessary reaction call-outs, which in turn saves the security company money.

During the week, 120 technicians were trained in the 'ABC of Transmitter Installation'. The course covers the important basics of how VHF signals work and how to install the transmitter for optimum performance. Delegates are shown how to, among other techniques, test the battery in the correct way, use the internal resistors for negative trip and the many other features on the transmitter. The operation of the RDC programmer, which can be used to programme all the transmitter features onsite, is also discussed in detail.
