Axis Communications has received Frost & Sullivan's 2005 Excellence in Technology Award for the AXIS 231D and AXIS 232D Network Dome Cameras. The award is presented each year to the company that has successfully developed a technology that can affect a market in terms of adoption, change, and competitive posture.
"Axis has emerged as the leading vendor of network video technology, earning itself the Excellence in Technology Award," says Frost & Sullivan research analyst, Michael Valenti. "The Axis network dome cameras are unique solutions for the IP surveillance market in that they combine the features of both analog and network-based cameras."
Axis designed the network dome cameras using the company's own ARTPEC-2 compression chip technology.
Roy Alves, managing director of SCS Distribution, the exclusive Axis distributors for South Africa, says, "We are absolutely delighted that Axis should be recognised in this way. Claims of market leadership are easy to make, but awards such as this one substantiate them. The future for video is networked digital - for flexibility, cost effectiveness and rich functionality. We are proud to represent the acknowledged leaders in this field."
