Lightlink, manufacturer and distributor of fibre-optic interface equipment, has developed and released the first locally designed and manufactured digital video and data interface system for single mode and multimode fibre-optic cable on a single fibre. The LL901 is a very affordable single-channel digital video transmitter and data transceiver unit operating on one single mode or multimode fibre over distances from 1 m up to 80 km. This standalone version can typically be used to provide a long-range connection over fibre between a PTZ camera and a recording system or video matrix. The unit provides broadcast quality 10-bit digital video and multiple data channels over virtually any distance without any adjustments. The LL901 ensures zero latency by transmitting true realtime uncompressed digital video from the camera to the other end of the fibre link. The unit supports high-speed RS232, RS485 and RS422 data transmission in a transparent full duplex data interface for compatibility with all PTZ cameras. The single-channel LL901 is housed in a compact DIN-rail mount enclosure with integral power supply and plug-in terminals for easy installation, while the two-channel model, the LL902, is available in both rack-mount cards and a standalone configuration.
