The next step in digital video system platforms

June 2005 Surveillance, Surveillance

In today's world security risks are constantly increasing and the demands for modern video surveillance systems with more functionality are following this trend.

Considerable effort needs to be taken to obtain a reliable and effective video surveillance system offering outputs that are of value to the user. Often projected budgets are exceeded significantly due to technical adaptations and details turning out to be much more costly than initially expected. Should users wish to expand such a system after a few years or to add additional features they often encounter technical limits - and to overcome these limits additional costs are incurred out of any proportion to the benefit achievable for the user.

It has always been Multivid's philosophy to design and sell 'perfect fit' electronic security solutions tailored to meet customer requirements over a long period of time whilst reducing risk, improving safety and/or generating operational savings rather than just selling individual products.

Now Multivid is proud to announce the launch of an integrated and open architecture, network-based surveillance system with many new innovative features - all in a single box known as GeViScope.

GeViScope, the new digital video system platform from Geutebruck, combines high-duty video and audio recording, open network matrix structure, professional motion detection and extensive alarm management in one single solution.

All features run in realtime and fully independent from each other for processing an unlimited number of video and audio signals. Dedicated digital signal processors offer utmost flexibility, from simple updates to complete re-programming - even years after the primary installation: Open for the future.

The product philosophy is convincing: One platform does it all - today and in the future.

Installer and end-user easily combine GeViScope hardware and software components to fit their individual needs. Networking integrates the components into a coherent system - quickly installed though tailor-made. However, customer requirements change continuously. The system adapts through hardware expansions, software upgrades and license uploads for compression methods, video motion detection or picture analysis algorithms. The system can be modified - even during operation. It is always up to date with the latest technology.

Geutebruck systems are easily integrated into more complex system architectures. The disclosure of interfaces is a fundamental element of the company's strategy. GeViScope is not only compatible within the Geutebruck world of systems but also easily combined with external components resulting in tailor-made systems for the end-user.

No matter how favourable the price is, storage capacity always costs money. GeViScope uses a currently unique procedure to optimise storage capacity.

The intelligent compression dynamics (IKD) adapts picture rate and quality to the activities and background noises. This is done in realtime, dynamically and latency-free! Two hierarchic quality levels for permanent recording guarantee significant documentation of each event, even before critical event thresholds are reached. They prevent permanent storage of redundant still images and carefully deal with valuable storage capacity. The more you store the less you see!

And of course each profitable operation is based on reliability and redundancy. Redundant power supply unit and integrated RAID-system prevent system failure due to normal wear and tear. And for a permanent and undisturbed operation the integrated hardware watchdog monitors the system availability, raises an alarm and - if necessary - restarts the system as immediate recovery measure.
