Securicor aims to increase involvement in Africa

December 2000 News & Events

Lenel Systems International recently announced that Vandal-Proof Products had become the latest addition to the Open Access Alliance Program, which develops and certifies integrations to Lenel's flagship solution, Lenel OnGuard.

The addition of Vandal-Proof Products' certified integration to OnGuard 2002 as part of Lenel's Open Access Alliance Program will provide current and future OnGuard users with an additional choice for emergency communications within the OnGuard Total Security Knowledge Management Solutions suite.

Through the development tools and engineering support provided to Open Access Alliance Program members, Vandal-Proof Products was able to successfully develop an integration of their Presidium supervised communications system with Lenel OnGuard 2002. Once the development work was completed, representatives from Lenel's quality assurance organisation and from Vandal-Proof Products' engineering group thoroughly tested and certified the integration.

The Vandal-Proof Products Presidium integration provides OnGuard customers with the ability to view and record emergency communications events initiated on the Presidium-supervised communication system. Communications stations are provided with a unique identification number and description, and when a call is placed the event is recorded in an OnGuard alarm monitoring module. As with any event in OnGuard, the physical location of the device can be shown on a graphical map or floor plan, thus providing security operators with instantaneous knowledge of the caller's location. Other devices, such as CCTV cameras, can be linked to the call stations so that digital video footage is captured every time a call is placed. All events and activities associated with any event monitored by Lenel OnGuard are stored in a central database, which minimises the amount of time and effort required to investigate and report on any security incident.
