Effective number plate identification at night

April 2005 Surveillance

The E-63V5H is a low light colour CS mount camera featuring peak-white-inversion.

This special mode suppresses bright light being introduced onto the camera's sensor. Areas of bright light are inverted to black. With a normal camera, the auto iris lens would automatically close under bright light conditions, which would cause the entire picture to be under exposed. With the E-63V5H, the bright areas are blacked out, forcing the auto iris lens to function appropriately.

An ideal application for the E-63V5H is when used to monitor the number plates of vehicles at night. The E-63V5H suppresses the brightness of the vehicle's headlights enabling one to capture the number plate and vehicle detail.

An extremely low light colour camera, this camera has an excellent S/N ratio and various slow shutter modes for lower light operation. This slow shutter mode is called the 'Star-Light' mode and is selectable in x1, x4, x64 and x128 gradients.

Other camera features include a negative image mode function, 2x digital zoom, AGC on/off selectable, mirror function, as well as various BLC modes. A hardwired alarm input or internal-software motion activated trigger is also integrated into the camera for certain specialised surveillance applications.

Camera functions are controlled via an on-screen-display menu through the camera's rear pushbuttons or via the RS232 port if specially interfaced.

Operation is off 12 V d.c. or 24 V a.c. and the camera can accommodate a variety of CS mount DC or video drive auto iris lenses.
