December 2000 News & Events

A major year of key milestones for Cardax International, 2002 has seen a combination of products and applications attributing to new directions for the company.

The appointment of managing director, Simon Brown, the review of strategic operations, and entering the US market are all major developments for Cardax. According to the company, 2002 has seen various major projects now coming to fruition, shaping the direction of the company for the upcoming year.

New developments include:

* Increasing the options

The Cardax FT range was extended in May, with the addition of the Cardax FT Reader I/O Interface, which provided new options for the system. The device connects to the Cardax FT Controller 5000 via the RS485-based local bus protocol, and can be configured to control up to eight doors, with inputs for 16 Cardax readers, ie, 24 inputs and eight output relays.

* More flexibility for sites

2002 has seen the release of both a Prox and a Prox Plus reader in the 125 range. Supporting 125 kHz proximity cards and transponders, the Cardax Prox 125 readers support both Cardax proprietary format, and a variety of third-party Wiegand-based formats, including Motorola, and HID. The flexibility of the 125 readers means it is possible for a site to integrate the use of Cardax readers with existing third-party cards in the system.

* Solution for small businesses

While Cardax FT Series 5 remains a proven system in its premium market - medium to large networked, enterprise sites, Cardax has extended the Cardax FT offering to provide a solution for small to medium sites, namely Series 3. Cardax FT Series 3 has been designed for sites up to 64 doors, by focusing on a cost-effective, easy to install and operate, access control and alarms management system.
