A10 offers long-lasting security

November 2004 Access Control & Identity Management

The Centurion A10 industrial sliding gate operator uses a three-phase induction motor regarded as the most robust electric motor to use in any industrial application. The motor runs cooler than an average single-phase motor and delivers maximum starting torque relative to its running torque.

The operator incorporates a custom-built frequency inverter to not only enhance the starting capability of the machine, it allows the operator to operate off a single phase 220 V supply.

The frequency inverter allows the operator to smoothly accelerate the gate to full speed on start-up and provide a controlled ramp down at the end of the cycle. This smooth operation reduces the shock loading in the system and adds considerably to the long-term reliability of the product.

When fitted with a fan, the A10 can operate almost continuously.

The robust diecast aluminium gearbox is designed to handle gates up to 2 tons in mass and the oil bath ensures effective long-term lubrication of the gearset.

The motor can operate the gate at higher than average operating speeds. It is capable of opening a 4 m 600 kg gate in less than 8 seconds and it is available with a DC converter that allows the unit to operate in the event of a power failure.

The A10 has added another dimension to sliding gate automation by allowing the speed to be programmed independently between open and closing.

The robust diecast aluminium gearbox is designed to handle gates up to 2 tons in mass and the oil bath lubrication ensures effective long-term lubrication of the gearset and bearings.
