REI equipment upgrades

November 2004 News & Events

TSCM Services has announced that Research Electronics International (REI) has introduced upgrades and enhancements on all its equipment to address and counter evolving threat technology.

REI manufactures a wide range of countersurveillance equipment such as the Oscor Omni Spectral Corrolator, CPM-700 Countersurveillance Probe, Orion Non-Linear Junction Evaluator and specialised sound masking equipment.

TSCM Services has been involved with REI since September 2000 as its representatives and distributors of the equipment in southern and eastern Africa. TSCM Services also provide maintenance and service of REI equipment in terms of the warranty and technical support.

The Oscor has been upgraded to Version 5 and the firmware has been designated as the Oscor 5000 'E' bringing significant updates including a high speed USB port for PC connection, faster spectrum analyser sweeping speed, and improved functionality. The Oscor software has been upgraded to Version 5. The software now provides the ability to store and compare multiple peak traces from previous sweeps, adjacent rooms and realtime Oscor data. The MDC-2100 Downconverter extends the Oscor's RF sweep and detection capabilities to 21 000 MHz (21 GHz).

The CMP-700 Countersurveillance Probe/Monitor is an extremely versatile unit and very popular with VIP protection personnel, security staff and investigation units for a wide range of countersurveillance applications. The CPM-700 is now available in three different packages, namely Standard, Advanced and Deluxe. The CPM-700 Advanced includes various probes to test for infrared transmitters, acoustic and magnetic leakages and telephones for RF. The CPM-700 Deluxe extends the detection range of the CPM to 12 000 MHz (12 GHz). The BMP-1200 Broadband Microwave Probe (2-12 GHz) is an excellent directional probe for finding common 2,4 GHz transmitters and is a low cost tool for identifying evolving microwave technologies. The Deluxe package also includes all the probes and accessories available in the other CPM packages.

REI has also introduced frequency hopping to non-linear junction detection searches. In search hop mode the Orion NLJE hops over a wide range of frequencies to ensure good detection ability for a wide range of eavesdropping threats.

All REI equipment owners/users are welcome to contact TSCM Services for additional information, demos or for quotations regarding the upgrading of its equipment.
