QD Electronics on the franchise route

November 2004 News & Events, Infrastructure, Products & Solutions

QD Electronics is embarking on a nationwide distribution network expansion plan. WIth factory direct franchise depots opening in Rustenburg, Nelspruit, Polokwani and George soon.

This network will be further expanded in the new year to include Blomfontein, Kimberley, Port Elizabeth and East London.

"Following the MBO from UNIHOLD some 18 months ago and having consolidated our position in the market," says QD's Marshall Sterley. "We have launched our flagship depot in Cape Town and are presently setting up in Durban"

"We plan to offer the installer a one-stop depot, where they can purchase all their security needs - from security alarm panels, electric fencing, infrared detection equipment, remote control receivers and transmitters, gate motors and CCTV equipment as well as all installation hardware and tools.

"In order to offer a fully comprehensive range of products QD has formed strategic alliances with various other manufactures and suppliers - Reditron for CCTV, Hydro Doors and MMA Electric Fencing."

Reditron managing director, John Loftus, is upbeat about the partnership. "Through this alliance we get to expand our footprint dramatically, with vastly improved market penetration, and QD gets a full CCTV product range," he says.
