CCTV test equipment now even better

October 2004 Surveillance

Eagle Technology introduces the E-FM1 and the E-CLM1, a handy handheld camera focus indicator and the handheld cable length meter.

The E-FM1 is a useful tool for any CCTV camera installer. It allows the user to set a camera to its optimum focus quickly and without need for a video test monitor.

The unit analyses the image detail at the centre of the picture. It is very simple to use. One connects the meter to the video output of the camera. Then you adjust the lens focus. When the best focus point is reached, the most LEDs will be illuminated on the meter's LED bargraph. The installer then knows he has the camera focused and can reconnect it to the CCTV system.

The E-CLM1 is a handheld battery-powered meter for determining the length of RG59 or RG58 cable. Using time domain reflectometry, it is able to produce a read-out, in metres, of the length of a cable with a resolution of 2,5 m.

The E-CLM1 can be used to measure up to a maximum distance of 400 m. Or it can also be used to determine a fault on a cable by indication of an open circuit or short circuit. For the most accurate reading it is recommended to have the opposite side of the cable un-terminated when testing. Powered off a PP3 9 V d.c. battery, the meter is a handy tool for a CCTV technician.
