Cathexis Technologies enters new era

October 2004 News & Events, Information Security, Conferences & Events

Cathexis Technologies, formerly Intervid Technologies, has concluded a management buy-in. This follows VenFin's takeover of the Intervid Group and Cathexis will now be better positioned to pursue business with the wider systems integrator market. Intervid, now a wholly owned subsidiary of Venfin, retains a minority equity stake in Cathexis.

Cathexis supplies a range of digital surveillance systems that offers a high level of integration of surveillance and other functionalities as well as advanced networking facilities, particularly central monitoring and remote maintenance.

The company's previous mandate was to supply the Intervid Group with both OEM technology and its own technology. Cathexis is now focusing on its own technology and has terminated agreements with OEM suppliers. Two new products are being announced to coincide with the launch of this new era at Cathexis, namely a realtime-per-channel surveillance system based on MPEG-2 compression for high-end applications, and a new graphical user interface for simple applications and ease of use.

"Our mission is to be recognised and respected within the surveillance market as a supplier of product, technology and knowledge that empowers our channel partners to offer clients holistic solutions. The new products will serve to achieve exactly that. As a result of the recent management buy-in concluded with Cathexis we are now well positioned to take the market head on and meet all our clients' needs and expectations," says managing director Dr Clive Putman.
