New variable video network camera for remote monitoring

September 2004 Surveillance

With the advantages of network-based surveillance, Web-casting and monitoring applications clearly visible, Sony has announced the availability of a new fixed video network camera, the SNC-CS3P.

Supporting all standard network protocols, installing this camera is an easy task by simply connecting the Ethernet cable to any TCP/IP Network. The supplied set-up software makes it possible to start monitoring within minutes after installation of the camera.

Will Klopper, product manager at Sony Business SA explains, the SNC-CS3P incorporates a 1/3 type IT CCD with Exwave HAD technology for superb picture quality and high sensitivity.

The SNC-CS3P is equipped with a 100Base-TX/10Base-T (RJ-45) interface and a built-in Web server. This allows a PC running a standard Web browser to monitor live images and control the camera without the need for additional software or plug-ins. Up to 50 simultaneous users can access and monitor the images of a single SNC-CS3P camera. By installing the optional IMZ-RS Series Intelligent Monitoring Software, up to 32 cameras can be simultaneously monitored, recorded and controlled from a single PC.

The SNC-CS3P produces images with a maximum frame rate of 25 fps, allowing for clear and smooth frame-accurate images to be viewed. The frame rate can be fixed or set to a variable rate that automatically adjusts to the available bandwidth.

The camera is supplied with an auto-iris, 3-8 mm, vari-focal lens, which provides clear images and also allows the adjustment of the angle of view.

Employing the industry standard JPEG compression format, the SNC-CS3P provides the flexibility to select image quality and image size according to network bandwidth.
