Rick Borrett, distribution sales director at Multisource Telecoms, says that water has always been one of the biggest damaging factors when it comes to using handheld radios.

"When water enters a transceiver it corrodes the internal components rendering the unit useless, and this has remained a problem in many industries," Borrett says.

The design of the ICOM F50 and F60 Series has been based on the proven range of ICOM marine handheld radios, and Borrett says that it is ideal for all applications where damp and excessively humid conditions are found.

Compact in design, the ICOM F50 and F60 offer full bandwidth capability in both VHF and UHF making it suitable for operation on widely spaced multiple frequencies.

Manufactured to MIL specifications in terms of ruggedness, the unit's gasket sealed waterproof housing provides superior waterproof protection and has been certified to JIS Grade 7 allowing for submersion to a depth of 1 m for a maximum of 30 minutes.
