Public address system designed for SMEs

August 2004 Infrastructure

Bosch Security Systems has launched the Plena All-in-one public address system, which combines background music (BGM) and a paging system to satisfy the growing public address requirements of small to medium-sized businesses.

With a 120 W mixer amplifier, a professional quality CD player and a digital FM/AM tuner in one compact housing, it is a one-box PA solution with numerous applications, including retail stores, restaurants, supermarkets, car showrooms, garages, small factories and schools.

"Space is often at a premium in small and medium-size businesses and the compact Plena All-in-one is an ideal solution," comments Elaine O'Gorman, product manager of Bosch Security Systems, southern Africa. "The single unit is also cost-effective and easy to operate."

The mixer-amplifier has three microphone inputs, including one with selectable priority status so important announcements can be made immediately. A two-tone chime option is provided to act as a warning prior to a priority announcement. This microphone input also features a voice-activated option (VOX) with adjustable ducking level for background music. The amplifier has controllable outputs for two separate loudspeaker zones and an additional call-only output, effectively giving it a third zone for priority announcements. Call-active contacts are provided to override local volume controls on loudspeakers.

The All-in-one is part of the Bosch Plena public address range, which covers applications ranging from simple installations to multizone call systems. It is part of the Plug-and-Play range where most units are simply connected together using a single cable, making for an easier, and time efficient installation. The advanced features can be enabled and configured to create a customised Plena system. Bosch also supplies an extensive range of suitable microphones and loudspeakers.
