August 2004 News & Events

This is the second in a series in which we will be profiling companies that are members of the Electronic Security Distributors Association (ESDA).

Elvey Security Technologies

Elvey Security Technologies is proud to be one of Africa's leading suppliers of electronic security equipment. With branches adeptly located throughout South Africa, in all major city centres as well as in Windhoek in Namibia and Harare in Zimbabwe, Elvey is able to serve a greater span of all patrons. As a system of raising the level of product quality, reliability, safety and efficiency while concurrently achieving 'Quality Management', Elvey Security Technologies conforms to the superior standards set by ISO 9001.

From day one, Elvey has scoured the world to source a complete range of the most advanced and effective security technology available and thus establishing relationships with corporations including Optex (Japan), Alarmcom (Switzerland), Caddx (USA), DSC (Canada) and many others, all of whom have always been involved in the creation, development and manufacture of the industry's most reliable security systems and software. Other brands include: Pyronix, Kalatel, RDC, Visionline, Axis, Pentax, Sony, Samsung and Fiber Options.

Consequently, it is now able to provide a complete range of electronic security systems and software including monitoring equipment, access control and intruder detection products with an annual turnover in excess of R100 million, to the southern African security industry.

The Elsec group's customer base consists of businesses which install electronic security, CCTV, access control and fire detection equipment and monitoring companies. Through the recent acquisition of Video Options, its offering has been expanded into local and remote surveillance. Equipment is sourced from various leading international manufacturers under exclusive distribution agreements.

Elvey successfully listed as Elvey Security Technologies, on the main board of the JSE Securities Exchange in May 1999. The listing was well accepted by major institutions. In February 2001, the JSE listed company Hudaco, announced that it had acquired the majority of the shares in Elvey Security Technologies. The company now forms an important part of the Hudaco Group. With Hudaco's financial strength, expertise in distribution and its extensive branch network, Elsec's growth prospects are certainly expected to enhance.

Elvey offers extensive training programmes aimed at enhancing the product knowledge of installers, as well as instilling the ability to install and maintain security systems with ease and confidence. The existing training programme is continuously improved and updated by introducing new training courses as the industry changes. All instructors are qualified to tutor the various courses offered by Elvey in accordance to ISO 9001:2000 standards.

Through real commitment to service excellence and reliable products, Elvey's aim is not merely to satisfy customers but rather to delight them.
