FAST Video Security systems accredits Sensormatic SA as new distribution partner

March/April 2004 News & Events

FAST Video Security, a Swiss-based developer of security and surveillance video systems, recently announced that it had established a new channel to market within southern Africa. Its previous OEM agreement with Intervid has now been terminated, and its range of digital recording, transmission and processing products will now be marketed and supported by Sensormatic SA. FAST develops, produces and distributes state-of-the-art digital video storage and transmission systems (both hardware and software) for network-based CCTV applications requiring a high level of security.

FAST products are increasingly viewed as the preferred choice for surveillance and monitoring systems within the casino and gaming industry, as the pace of adoption of digital systems to replace more traditional analog increases within this sector. Its products are also extensively applied within the financial sector, across retailers, hotels, airports, the telecommunications industry, as well as local government.

"Our systems are particularly well suited to address the needs of the casino market, and with Sensormatic's dominance of this sector through its subsidiary Techpro, we recognised that Sensormatic SA was now an ideal partner for us," commented Beat Meier, CEO of FAST. "Sensormatic's additional strengths in the retail and mining industries, its infrastructure and technical expertise, and its vision and strategy for the rest of Africa and beyond were further reasons for establishing the relationship."

The gaming industry has particular requirements in terms of image quality. FAST's high-resolution systems require only minimal bandwidth, and provide distinguishing advantages in order to cope with these challenging requirements. The precise focus on playing cards and chips ensure that numbers and colours are clearly recognisable, even in unfavourable light conditions or view angles.

In the many instances when realtime recording is required, FAST's high compression rate helps minimise the required storage capacity without any loss in quality. FAST Video Security AG was the first company to fully equip a casino - probably the most challenging environment ever for CCTV - with a network-based digital video system.
