Pentagon Distribution honours best dealers

March/April 2004 News & Events

Pentagon Distribution hosted its annual Dealer of the Year function at the end of 2003 at a black-tie function at the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town. Attended by its dealers throughout South Africa, over 120 guests attended.

According to Pentagon sales director, Anton Hochleutner, "We use the awards ceremony to thank our top-producing clients and honour the Dealers of the Year in front of their peers."

For the first time, the awards were divided into two categories. As Pentagon Distributions' dealer base has grown over the last three years, they have started to do business with more national companies and not just regional SMM Enterprises. Explains Hochleutner, "We felt that it was unrealistic to expect the same levels of production from a regional enterprise with an office in one of the major centres and a national company with countrywide offices. We felt that in many instances, the loyalty we received from smaller clients needed to be recognised and a second award was implemented."

Regional Dealer of the Year

The Regional Dealer of the Year award was awarded to a Cape Town-based integration firm, Secure Electronics. It has been in business for 15 years and has been a partner of Pentagon on a variety of CCTV projects throughout the Western Cape.

Comments Hochleutner, "When we started doing business with Secure, we soon became very impressed by their professional approach to business. As a 100% BEE company, they are truly proof that given the opportunity, the process of black economic empowerment can become a very viable philosophy."

The National Dealer of the Year

The National Dealer of the Year award was awarded to FireTech Projects. This national integrator has, since inception, built up an enviable reputation for quality and project management. Says Hochleutner, "They are a true integrator, designing and installing a variety of electronic systems including: CCTV, fire detection, access control, gas extinguishing, evacuation and many others disciplines. Doing business with Firetech opened new markets for us and allowed us to compete on a national basis against some of the larger distributors."
