Handling up to 16 video connections simultaneously

November 2000 Surveillance

The ISDN Shop, one of the online trading divisions belonging to Converge Holdings, announces the arrival of a new video recording software which is capable of displaying and saving video data streams from up to 16 remote cameras. Its special feature is an integrated job scheduler that allows automated, unsupervised recording tasks.

The new video recording software VSS 3800/16 is manufactured by Controlware GmbH, Diezenbach and distributed by The ISDN Shop in South Africa. It represents a breakthrough in remote video reception and recording, allowing the simultaneous live recording and displaying of up to 16 audiovisual data streams on a standard multimedia Windows PC. Another unique feature of the VSS 3800/16 is the integrated job scheduler. The scheduler enables the user to set individual recording dates for each connected camera in advance. At the scheduled moment, the software automically connects one or all 16 specified cameras and stores live video images, sequences or snapshots on the computer hard disk. The user has the opportunity to analyse the stored data at a later stage. VSS 3800/16 is ideally suited for TCP/IP connections, but can also receive video and audio data from ISDN, PSTN or GSM networks. While using computer networks (eg LAN) for the audiovisual data transmission, no additional hardware decoder or specific cabling is required.

Andreas Rabetche, Video Product Manager for the ISDN Shop says, "This product will ultimately enhance the capabilities that surround remote security and surveillance applications. I look forward to the introduction of this product into the South African market."
