Standalone video remote transmission

November 2000 Surveillance

The award-winning E-RSM1600 Master transceiver allows anyone within reach of a touch-tone telephone to monitor any similarly equipped location worldwide. The Master transceiver (transmitter and receiver) uses standard telephone lines to transmit both full-colour motion video and audio in realtime, making remote surveillance of businesses and property both practical and cost-effective.

A black box about the size and shape of a videocassette tape, the Master transceiver connects to a standard telephone line and up to three in-store cameras (or to an E-RSM700 video/alarm expander or multiplexer for additional cameras) and is fully compatible with existing CCTV systems. The video is viewed remotely using a second E-RSM1600 connected to a monitor or TV (no computer required) and/or with E-RSMPC monitoring software, which loads quickly on a laptop or desktop computer.

With the addition of the E-RSM700 video/alarm expander, the Master transceiver supports ten video inputs, eight with associated alarm inputs. Triggering an alarm causes the Master transceiver to automatically switch to the video input associated with the alarm and to dial a remote monitoring station if it is not already connected to one. A relay output on the video/alarm expander can be activated at the remote monitoring site for control of devices at the camera location, including VCRs, auto diallers, alarm bells, and more. Triggering an alarm that is connected to the video/alarm expander causes the Master transceiver to automatically switch to the associated video input and to dial a remote monitoring station if it is not already connected to one. This alarm capability, combined with the RSM system's full-colour motion video, makes the system ideal for alarm verification and perpetrator identification.

Operating on any Pentium desktop or laptop PC, the E-RSMPC monitoring software dials into an E-RSM1600 Master transceiver. Users control all of the system features from a PC using simple on-screen menus, including electronic pan/tilt/zoom, picture adjustment and automatic sequencing between different remote cameras. The E-RSMPC can be used to monitor more than one remote location during successive calls.
