1,3 M pixel B/W machine vision FireWire camera

December 2003 Surveillance

The E-PLA741 is a 1,3 megapixel CMOS monochrome machine vision camera with global shutter and external trigger. The new E-PLA741 combines the functionality of a frame grabber with a CMOS imager to provide a solid machine vision camera in a simple to use package. With triggering and GPO capabilities on-board the camera and no need for a separate frame grabber in the computer, your system complexity and cost are reduced. Data from the camera is transferred to the computer over a standard, inexpensive FireWire adapter and cable, which supplies camera power and provides all control inputs.

The E-PLA741 was designed for generic machine vision and OEM applications such as inspection, testing, OCR tasks, positioning and high-contrast imaging. It can also be used as a line-scan camera for low-speed applications. The camera is offered in two models: standard, with a front-facing lens mount and periscope, with an upward-facing lens mount.

Features include:

* 2/3" CMOS 1280 x 1024 resolution sensor.

* Standard C mount lens ring.

* 350~1000 nm spectral sensitivity range.

* Monochrome 8- or 10-bit data.

* External trigger and general purpose outputs (GPO).

* Extended dynamic range imaging.

* Dual FireWire interfaces for multiple camera operation.

* DCAM (IIDC V1.30) compatible.

* High-speed: 27fps @ 1280x1024, 33fps @ 1000x1000, up to 8000 fps for any window of 4096 pixels or less (eg, 64x64).

* Software developer's kit available (C++, Visual Basic, LABView).

* Power supplied by Firewire Bus - 4,2 W.
