sanyo VSP-7000 system controller links up to 256 devices at a range of up 1250 m.

Sanyo SA has introduced the VSP-7000, a system controller which can control time-lapse VCR, multiplexer and camera from a single unit. Communication in the VSP-7000 is achieved with addressable RS485 control utilising the Sanyo-designed security serial protocol (SSP) and up to 256 devices can be controlled on a single pair of twisted wire cables up to 1250 m.

In addition, up to 15 groups of mixed product can be addressed which is valuable in systems using large numbers of video tape recorders, multiplexers, and cameras. Using this feature, a 'group' of time lapse recorders can eject tape or start recording all with the touch of a single button.

Bi-directional communication is valuable as the user is made aware of the following functions: alarm start time, alarm stop time and any unauthorised mode status change due to either a tape transport problem or user tampering.

"This controller, when used with devices which also include SSP, such as the new VCC-6974 camera or CD-162 multiplexer, makes for the most advanced, full-featured security system available today," said Toshiyuki Todo, Managing Director of Sanyo SA.

A major benefit offered by the remote site capability of the Sanyo VSP-7000 system controller is the reduction in the number of personnel needed at every location. Security personnel can now manage CCTV functions from a single location including recorders, multiplexers and cameras.
