New awards recognise IP in security innovation

November 2003 News & Events, Surveillance, Integrated Solutions

The new IP in Security Awards has been launched by IP Security Events & Media to reward those organisations that have helped to drive the security industry forward through the manufacture and adoption of IP-based security solutions.

These brand new awards are open to all IIPSEC (International Internet Protocol Security Exhibition & Conference) exhibitors and sponsors and will be presented at the IP in Security Awards Dinner at Stoneleigh Park near Coventry January 27-29, 2004. There are three main categories that can be entered:

* IP hardware, including cameras, access control readers, interfaces and recording devices.

* IP software used, for example, to view or record images, for image recognition, biometrics, data management, etc.

* IP application.

The latter category is for any application that is unique in its use of IP to enhance overall security performance. Five finalists will be selected for each of these categories, with a final winner being chosen to be the overall winner.

Paul Hennings, director of IP Security Events & Media, explains why these awards are so important to the security industry: "There are a number of award schemes in the security industry which are well established, but none address the changing nature of the industry like the IP in Security Awards. These awards are specific to one form of transmission technology and recognise the innovators in our industry who are pushing forward with this technology and breaking new boundaries. This is not an easy task - it takes substantial resources and courage to take the lead, but this is the security industry's future and it is these organisations that we need to applaud."
