Intervid Focusued on automated ,customised, digital video management solutions

Dec '99 Surveillance

Intervid, the recently listed visual technology solutions company, has its roots in the success of Pietermaritzburg based Flash Alarms (1976). In 1990, a specialised, niche market was identified for a visual solutions provider, and Rob Howard established Industrial Park Security Specialists (IPSS) to focus on this market. IPSS recognised an opportunity for developing and providing automated, customised, digital video management solutions for the South African market, and Video Management Systems (VMS) was formed to provide this specialist CCTV service and technology.

Together with a finance brokerage to facilitate financing of systems and equipment supplied by VMS, the companies combined in the listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange as Intervid in August of this year.

According to Intervid Managing Director, Rob le Sueur, "The unique scope of facilities enables Intervid to provide a one-stop shop to its clients. Turnkey projects comprise integrated and comprehensive consulting, design and technical competence, which deliver automated, digital visual information systems from access control through the production cycle to distribution and stock control. Client management now has a dynamic tool to dramatically enhance capability, productivity and reduce asset risk."

"The beauty of Intervid technology is that expertise is developed in house and the sky is the limit with respect to applications across sectors and markets. Successful applications of our sophisticated software for intelligent systems are found in the mining industry, forestry, municipal systems, marine, manufacturing and retail sectors," he adds.

Concludes le Sueur, "Exponential growth in commercial opportunities is sustained with the very best expertise in software development, together with exceptional applied skills. We're implementing a shared vision for the global relevance of Intervid technology from a proven commercial base here in South Africa."
