Bumper Securex 2004 expected

September 2003 News & Events

Securex 2004, South Africa's leading International Security, Protection & Safety Exhibition, will take place from 3-5 March at Sandton Convention Centre.

For eight years Securex has attracted leading local as well as international exhibitors hailing from countries such as Italy, Korea, UK, USA, Spain and the Czech Republic. This successful trade exhibition creates an opportune marketing medium and assists industry players in targeting a broad spectrum of influential local and international buyers as well as decision makers.

Over 4300 visitors attended Securex 2003 over the three-day period of the show. Of these, 169 were foreign visitors hailing from 36 different countries. "As the premier Security, Protection & Safety Exhibition, Securex saw a higher calibre of exhibitor present at the show this year as well as an increase in quality visitors which we were extremely pleased about," says Lynn Chamier, director of Exhibitions for Africa - the organisers of the exhibition.

Despite the overwhelming success of the show this year, market research however indicates that the absence of a particular sector - guarding companies - was felt.

For many years the guarding industry in South Africa has played an integral role in the security sector but yet has kept a low profile in the market. "Visitors to Securex have strongly indicated that they would like to see more security guarding companies exhibiting at the show," says Chamier.

The show will once again enjoy strong endorsements by key trade media publications as well as local trade associations namely, The Electronic Security Distributors Association (ESDA), and The Security Association of South Africa (SASA). Securex is the only trade exhibition of its kind which is endorsed by both these reputable associations.

Even overseas associations have expressed their support for Securex. Peter Nicholls of the British Security Industry Association says, "we have been on the show for six years and this year has definitely been the best in terms of the new venue - Sandton Convention Centre. We were extremely satisfied with the show this year and saw a higher quality of visitor. I will definitely be encouraging my British counterparts who have not had the fortune of exhibiting at Securex to do exactly that."

Securex 2004 will once again incorporate the ESDA Village which offers the smaller companies an opportunity to stand head to head with their larger counterparts. The ESDA Village will allow smaller members to participate and showcase their expertise to the same visitor profile as the larger exhibitors.

Participation in the ESDA Village allows smaller members to:

a. Book a 4 m2 (2 x 2 m) serviced stand with pamphlet holder.

b. Exhibit alongside the Electronic Security Distributors Association stand in specified area with its own identity.

c. Brand and position themselves on the show.

d. Exhibit at an affordable rate.

Any security association wishing to discuss a similar option for their members, should phone Jacqui at the Exhibitions for Africa offices directly.

New exhibitors already on board for next year include 3G Net Technology, SIT Holdings and Hi-Bryd Solutions. To reaffirm the confidence international exhibitors have in Securex, Fermax from Spain has increased its stand space to 48 m2.
