Versatile standalone system

June 2003 Access Control & Identity Management, Products

ProDor from Sensable Sensors is a versatile standalone access control system controlling 2000 users, two doors and four proximity readers without dependency on a computer or expensive software.

The controller is mounted in a secure location and all system wiring is routed to this unit. Utilising a system of distributed intelligence, it is possible for the controller to operate independently even if the communication between the controller and the programmer is broken. The remote programmer is mounted in a compact enclosure, and all controller and user functions are configured by this unit. The interface between the user and the access control system is by means of a large, easy-to-read LCD display, four programming buttons and an audible buzzer.

The programmer communicates with the controller via an RS485 link, enabling the programmer to be located up to 1200 m away from the installation.

The access control parameters are set up by a simple, easy-to-follow menu system. Incorporated into the design is a handy on-board reader that simplifies the procedure when taking on cards or tags. ProDor allows for realtime printing of all date/time stamped transactions, with a memory buffer.

ProDor provides ease of installation, configuration and end-user interface, coupled with versatility and reliability. It has been designed to be expanded into a fully-blown network system controlling multiple doors as a future upgrade path.
