Protea Automation Solutions have come up with a solution for the detection and identification of people with the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). At the present time, this is an urgent and essential problem to be considered at, for example, staging posts such as airports in an attempt to stop the spread of the disease.
Protea now market a Land human body temperature monitoring system, which is a state-of-the-art infrared detector combined with electronic signal processing technology, to provide a high performance, compact thermal imaging camera for screening and body temperature measurement purposes at an attractive price. Anyone with a higher-than-normal temperature, a SARS' condition, can be detected instantly when screened by the camera, particularly on the face.
The thermal imaging system provides a thermographic image of human body temperature at a distance and comparing it with that of a precise blackbody calibration source at high speed - 30 frames per second - to provide a accurate measurement of body temperature. With a typical detection distance of 3 m, the system gives a field view of 90 X 70 cm from the thermal imager.
