Successful African safari

April 2003 News & Events

Bosch, the successful security systems provider and Philips Communication, Security and Imaging (CSI), the leading specialist in congress, public address and video surveillance systems have pooled their global experience in a cooperative partnership: Bosch Security Systems.

This integration moves Bosch Security Systems into the ranks of the 'top five' security solution providers in the world, boasting a comprehensive network of international contacts. Another achievement is that Philips CSI, South Africa, recently took over the responsibility of operating in Africa, a job previously conducted by Philips CSI Export in Europe.

"So far it has been a success story, we have increased our revenues exponentially year on year, and our involvement in Africa continues to grow, we are now actively represented in 25 countries and still growing", says Allan Antoncich, general manager for Bosch Security Systems.

Philips CSI has become involved in projects in countries as far afield as the Sudan and Eritrea and as close to home as Zimbabwe. "I think our success is because we are African and understand the challenges of working in Africa," explains Antoncich. According to Antoncich it comes down to more than just installing equipment, Philips adopts a more holistic approach with the help of its agents in Africa. "We understand that access to technology and equipment in Africa is difficult and so we assist in providing a full solution for their needs and this sometimes involves supplying third party products as well. We are our customers first call on all their needs," he added.
