Turning data into business information

June 2012 Integrated Solutions

Every business is a network of interrelated people, systems and processes. When run independently of each other, the business in question loses critical insight into its own operations and may make strategic decisions based on inadequate information.

Gathering the information from the various processes in the business into a single management application is gaining traction in the security business. However, there is more to management than simply integrating security and building management data feeds into a single console. The data gathered can provide crucial information to the business if it is organised and analysed correctly.

PBS Technologies, a local development company has developed Cengence, an intelligence management framework that provides intelligent business solutions. The application is sold through a PBS subsidiary, Cengence International.

Complex intelligence is the assimilation of intricate and or simple data from numerous sources across multiple disciplines. This data is continuously analysed to produce real-time pattern identification as well as system and business intelligence trends to recognise predictable behaviour. These results are used as knowledge to manage operational concerns, raise efficiencies which enhance the business performance and grows market share, resulting in increased profitability.

Cengence offers insights into new opportunities and has an ability to respond ahead of current market and other trends while using a business’s current systems. The program’s automation function guarantees optimisation of the business operations and undertakes effective monitoring and evaluation of resources. Cengence offers business a global view of their organisation through a unified interface. It enables managers to pinpoint inefficiencies, capabilities and obstacles and convert these into strategies which will produce competitive advantage.

Vertical packages

The Cengence products have been packaged into various disciplines to effectively cover multiple operational areas within an organisation. The packages include the following:

* Cengence Security and BMS Vital Package.

* Cengence Training Package.

* Cengence Risk Management Package.

* Cengence Facilities Management Package.

* Cengence Complex Analysis Package.

* Cengence Document Management Package.

* Cengence Correctional Services Package.

The flexibility of the product lines being modular and scalable, allows for the same products to be used within various packages, thereby streamlining the roll out of Cengence within an organisation. This increases cost efficiency and ease of implementation.

Cengence Security & Bms Vital Package

The Security & BMS Vital Package has been formulated taking into consideration the key deficiencies within the security environment to ensure a more comprehensive intelligent security solution is provided. Using this package, organisations are able to effectively monitor, manage and report on key deliverables across the security environment. This package also monitors, escalates and processes critical building management systems in real-time thereby further enhancing system efficiencies.

The Security & BMS Vital Package comprises the following products:

* Cengence Pulse.

* Cengence Essentials.

* Cengence Online.

* Cengence Gatekeeper.

* Cengence Tricorder.

* Cengence Incident Management.

Features and benefits

By using all products within the Cengence Security & BMS Vital Package an organisation will be able to achieve the following:

Independence – Cengence is a management information system (MIS) which integrates and assimilates information from various systems and/or data sources. It also polices the systems that provide this information.

Augmentation – Cengence identifies the limitations within various systems and provides software based mechanisms to fill these gaps thus enhancing the current and future system performance.

Unified interface – Cengence being a complex intelligence management framework accesses data from various sources and is able to link multiple devices and databases into a unified interface. (One window to a host of technologies in the background).

Mobility – Cengence provides access to all data through multiple platforms, including cell phones, smart phones and other devices ensuring faster reaction time for the management of tasks and resources.

Versatility – Cengence products are modular and scalable. They can be used as standalone solutions or combined to form an ‘Intelligent Security Solution’.

Efficiencies – Raises a multiple of efficiencies including the ability to minimise false alarms, filter noise, escalate tasks, add intelligence to alarm systems to make them more efficient and provide a mechanism for monitoring system performance. It undertakes a critical role of automated service level management as well as device and asset management. It automates job card management thereby ensuring the efficient allocation of resources.

Automation – By executing workflows, it undertakes the automation of standard operating procedures, tasks and actions. Amongst other things, it automatically raises alerts, submits job cards and manages turnaround times for support and maintenance. It can execute scheduled tasks to ensure more efficient management of events in line with approved operating procedures.

Integrated management – Integrates multiple branded systems and processes across various disciplines. This allows for a ‘fruit salad’ of systems and processes to be used.

Integrated data management & assimilation – The management of data across various sources into a centralised framework resulting in the better management of information, improved decision making through the extraction of real-time reports.

Artificial intelligence – The system uses organic machine intelligence algorithms which allows for self learning, linear and heuristic pattern identification. It has the ability to accurately analyse data thereby providing real-time business intelligence as well as predictive matrixes and system automation.

Cengence gives organisations a global view of their operational systems, allowing for the identification of inefficiencies, obstacles and capabilities, and enabling these to be converted into competitive advantage. The automated single user interface, optimises operations and use of resources, is user friendly and reduces human error. It additionally offers insight into new opportunities and the ability to respond ahead of current market trends.
