Bytes, Tyco partner on CCTV, access control

December 2011 News & Events

Bytes Systems Integration and Tyco Security Products have partnered on providing a combined range of solutions for the access control market.

In terms of the partnership, the two companies will provide joint and separate customers with a range of combined security solutions embracing Tyco’s CCTV cameras and Bytes Systems Integration’s access control offerings.

“We chose to partner with Bytes as they have a national footprint, they have the required technical and engineering know-how, and they have a proven track record in the access control field,” says Ernest Mallett, regional sales director, sub-Saharan Africa, Tyco Security Products.

Bytes Systems Integration is a company in the Bytes Technology Group, wholly owned by JSE-listed Altron.

“CCTV is forming an increasingly important part of our overall access control offering,” says David Hunter, MD of the Kronos division at Bytes Systems Integration. “In this light we expect customers to derive major value from this partnership.”

“We have an extremely stringent application process,” adds Mallett. “We typically have a hybrid selling approach worldwide. We therefore sell some products through true distribution and other products through our certified partners such as Bytes. Bytes therefore has direct access to our range of video and access control products. We assist Bytes with tenders and sales tools and provide a full backup service.”

Tyco set up a direct office in South Africa 20 months ago. Tyco Security Products have been sold in South Africa for many years without any direct involvement. Since opening the office, the company has seen demand growing organically for its full range of products, says Mallett.

The partnership will target financial services, mass transit (airport, railways, harbours), and retail, the largest sector for video products.
