With the goal of providing ‘accountability and credibility to the electronic security industry’, the Electronic Security Industry Alliance (ESIA), under the auspices of the Security Industry Alliance (SIA) is being relaunched at IFSEC SA this year.

ESIA chairman, Anthony Rosenbaum, says, “The mandate of ESIA, is to unite the entire electronic security industry, encompassing all security disciplines and services, and to provide the industry with a unified voice.”

The mandate and objectives of ESIA are:

* Provide for and open up meaningful dialogue and interaction with government parastatals, and to have direct input with government, to shape, direct and improve the electronic security industry.

* Training: to register with SASSETA, and to assist with grants, and to develop SAQA recognised training courses.

* Install a set of standards and codes of practice in regards to operation and accountability in the market place.

* To create a climate where the ESIA hallmark is a symbol of quality and professionalism in the market place, and to become the recognised voice of the Electronic Security Industry.

* The introduction of an identity and database system, managing and monitoring employees within the Industry.

Rosenbaum adds that all companies that provide services related to the electronic security industry including alarm monitoring and armed reaction, security consultants, system designers and integration, electronic security system design, installation, maintenance, technical support and repairs, and importation and exportation of electronic security systems should consider joining at a reduced rate for the first year.

ESIA will be present at IFSEC SA this year on a membership drive. Companies interested in joining will be able to pick up a form at any of the stands with the ESIA Member sign (see image). Forms will also be available on the Hi-Tech Security Solutions stand (Hall 3, AA39).
