JVC unveils new line of HD networks cameras

April 2011 Products & Solutions, Surveillance

Over the course of 2011, JVC Professional will introduce a new Super LoLux HD line of V.Networks cameras which are equipped with CMOS sensors that output full HD resolution, and offer multicodec support, including M-JPEG, MPEG-4, and H.264.

“All H.264 compression is not the same. Many security camera manufacturers use H.264 Baseline or Main Profile, which does not provide the storage and bandwidth efficiencies that customers expect,” Fedja Vehabovic, manager, CCTV Europe explains. “JVC’s cameras support H.264 High Profile, which uses significantly less bandwidth than H.264 Baseline or Main Profile-based cameras.”

The new Super LoLux HD cameras deliver superior colour reproduction, even in low light, and match the sensitivity of JVC’s well established CCD-based cameras. The new cameras also include new Clear Logic Video Intelligence (CLVI) image processing, which compensates for back lighting and digitally removes ambient fog, haze, rain, or smoke.

There are entry-level, intermediate, and advanced models in the new Super LoLux HD product line, with a box style (minus lens), indoor mini-dome, and outdoor dome camera available at each level. Each new camera is equipped with a 1/3-inch CMOS sensor that can deliver up to 30 fps full frame rate, progressive HD images. Entry-level models provide 720p resolution, while intermediate and advanced models produce full 1080p images.

Other features include auto back focus, on-board recording to SD card, motion detection, privacy mask, and a variety of built-in video analytics features, including active tampering detection, audio detect and tripwire. The cameras support ONVIF and PSIA standards for network cameras, as well as a wide variety of leading video management software (VMS) platforms, including Milestone XProtect.

The new models are:

VN-V17U box style (no lens)

VN-V217U indoor mini-dome
