Zinox Technologies, an Associate of Mustek, has won a contract to supply 80 000 direct data capture (DDC) units worth R1 billion for the January voter registration in Nigeria. This is the lion’s share of an award of contracts to three companies for a total of 132 000 units.
Each unit comprises a notebook, fingerprint reader, printer, external storage unit, camera and external extended battery, all housed in a single travel case to facilitate portability and accessibility into rural areas.
Zinox Technologies is West Africa’s most integrated ICT firm. It was jointly founded in 2001 by Mustek, with a 30% shareholding, and Leo Stan Ekeh, the 28-year-experience Nigerian businessman who still heads up the operation today. Mustek has reduced its shareholding to 12% due to the acquisition of majority stakes in TD Technologies and Task Systems.
TD Technologies is the pioneer distributor in West Africa for Acer, APC, Cisco, Dell, D-Link, Epson, HP, IBM, Microsoft, and Toshiba. Task Systems is an ICT Solutions company leading the industry with the implementation of various ICT projects in the oil and gas, banking, telecoms, manufacturing and government sectors.
