Johnson Controls announces free P2000LE package

July 2010 Access Control & Identity Management

Johnson Controls Systems & Service is offering its P2000LE access control security package, with the Metasys Building Management System (BMS) integration option available at no additional charge, to every new and upgraded Metasys V BMS customer.

"The Johnson Controls P2000LE access control and security management system can be can be seamlessly integrated into a Metasys BMS and is specifically designed for small to mid-sized business," comments Neil Cameron, general manager for Johnson Controls Systems & Service South Africa. "This promotion is intended to assist organisations using the Metasys BMS to improve their security systems with an advanced and easy to use system."

Based on the Microsoft Windows XP software system, the P2000LE provides a user friendly, intuitive graphical interface. System operators can access real-time, dynamic maps containing interactive icons from which security systems and functions can be managed with a simple click. Additional options include Guard Tour, CCTV and Video Imaging capabilities.

Intercom system integration gives the operator the flexibility to program intercom functions directly from the P2000LE graphical interface. In this manner, calls can be opened, closed and redirected using a single intercom station dialogue box.

Other features such as Threat Level Support allow operators to adjust security functions based on previously configured threat level parameters. In the event of an elevated security threat, modifications can be made to reader acceptance levels (from card only, to card plus PIN, to card plus PIN plus biometrics), and CCTV cameras and Guard Tours can be changed to reflect heightened security requirements.

High level integration enables Metasys BMS operators to access key P2000LE security management features from the Metasys web-based user interface and allow them to perform the following activities:

* Browse and acknowledge P2000 alarms.

* Issue P2000 door commands (lock/unlock).

* Trigger Metasys actions with P2000 Interlock events.

* Print P2000 alarms and events reports.

"Integration with the Metasys BMS and P2000 can reduce facility costs and increase energy efficiency, for example, an employee can trigger lights in a room by presenting a valid badge at an access control entry point," concluded Cameron.
