TETRA - a new dimension to professional mobile communication

November 2000 Infrastructure

Blick South Africa has won a contract with New Era Parking for the supply and delivery of Blick Alfia pay-on-foot parking equipment for the Stadium-on-Main building in Cape Town.

Mike Lotter, national sales manager for Blick SA, said that this is the beginning of a very profitable relationship with New Era Parking. "Parkade managing companies have lost enormous amounts of money with unstable equipment and low levels of service. The Blick Alfia equipment is the market leader in the European market and has a well established installed base. Together with the service levels that Blick South Africa offers its clients, this will be a cost effective solution for parkade managers in southern Africa."

Various solutions were called upon from building tenants in terms of special rates for the bowling alley and action cricket arena. The system also supports monthly tenant parking including Pick 'n Pay and other large organisations. In addition, the parking system software was customised for the building's gym users so that 3 hours of free parking per day is automatically allocated. Monthly pass cards are also specially programmed for this application.

The parking system consists of two entry ticket dispensers/readers and two exit ticket readers, one pay-on-foot station and two intelligent manual cashiers that are manned 24 hrs a day. The system is operated with sophisticated software, which will provide New Era Parking a detailed analysis of the operation of its business.
