Honeywell releases Rapid Eye Multi-Media DSP

New Rapid Eye system provides event-driven and realtime digital video recording.

Honeywell has released Rapid Eye Multi-Media DSP, the newest addition to the Rapid Eye Series of surveillance recording equipment featuring event-driven and realtime video recording and live local viewing.

A 16 channel digital video recorder, the Rapid Eye Multi-Media DSP system is designed to simultaneously record, search, and transmit live and recorded video, audio and data transactions. Benefits of the system include superior live video images, dramatically improved capture rates and recorded images, event-driven and accelerated response recording, and increased internal storage capacity up to 2 TB.

"The new Rapid Eye system is ideal for applications where centralised video management is essential and users require fully-featured remote capabilities," says Chris Koetsier, EMEA marketing leader for Honeywell Video Systems. "Video verification and sophisticated integration with existing physical security infrastructures, such as alarm panels and access control systems, are the hallmarks of this new Rapid Eye system."

The Rapid Eye Multi-Media DSP is a high-performance system (400 ips PAL), designed to record, search, and transmit video, audio and data transactions while simultaneously providing users with both live and post event evaluation. The system accepts input from physical sensors and security hardware devices on its 16 Alarm Inputs and can automatically trigger devices attached to its eight Control Outputs. Using the Fault Relay, the system can be connected to onsite alarm panel hardware to signal that the unit has stopped recording. The system can also warn remote operators by signalling an alarm station automatically. It can be easily integrated into an overall physical security system and is extremely useful in providing remote visual identification for live events or recorded evidence of prior events. For retail markets, its built-in data capture capabilities make it extremely useful as a loss prevention analysis tool.

Benefits of the system include superior live video images, dramatically improved recording rates and images, event-driven accelerated response recording and increased internal storage capacity up to 2 TB. Other features include enhanced PTZ control - both locally and remotely - and enhanced PTZ configuration. Expanded hardware capability includes eight user definable RS232/RS422/RS845 serial ports, which allows direct connection of PTZ telemetry wiring to the unit without the need for separate hardware devices. The additional serial ports also support expanded POS capability of up to 16 data streams. Hierarchal site tree allows user definable grouping of sites and supports multiple levels of nesting within a site branch. The new Rapid Clip feature makes remote clip generation fast and easy.

The system consists of three major components which include: the Recorder Unit (RU), featuring DSP powered realtime recording at CIF resolution and LocalView the local user interface; Admin Software, the workstation/server-based administration tool capable of enterprise-wide site and user management; and View Software, a feature-rich, workstation-based remote operator program. The combination of Admin and View combined with the DSP powered RU truly differentiates the Rapid Eye system from the competition.

Rapid Eye DSP is ideal for use in commercial, industrial, municipal, financial, or retail markets, and it is compatible with all previous generations of Rapid Eye units - making it easy to integrate into existing Rapid Eye or CCTV installations and physical security systems.
