TVMS installs SecureVu Novex at GoLogix

Deon de Villiers, Operations Director for GoLogix, a leading specialist courier and logistics company, having seen the completed installation of their new digital CCTV security system in the Jet Park facility, has been most effusive in his praise of TVMS and the new system they have installed.

GoLogix was approached by TVMS, a specialist in logistical company CCTV needs, earlier in the year with a carefully researched proposal for a digital solution to its current security, operations and production needs. After extensive discussions, client visits to other similar sites, a lengthy quoting procedure from a number of different CCTV companies, TVMS was awarded the contract.

The system integrator - TVMS

TVMS, one of the leading visual information technology companies, providing quality CCTV system installations, both analog and digital, was delighted with winning the contract for the GoLogix project. Highlighting the cleverly positioned cameras to avoid those embarrassing shots directly into bright sunlight where nothing is seen, carefully hidden wiring runs, and the compact and complete cabinet to mount the DVRs and audio support, with room for further expansion, TVMS completed the installation within the required time and successfully completed a fully signed off hand-over.

The DVR - SecureVu Novex

TVMS involved Ultrak SA in the planning stages to integrate the necessary equipment it would propose for the GoLogix project. Supported by its Ultrak Account Manager, Cindo Alves, it researched and chose the Ultrak KD-6 Diamond dome as its PTZ camera and the Ultrak high-resolution static camera with auto iris lens. Alves went on to recommend the SecureVu Novex DVR using the well-known VC 2000 software. Alves commented: "Stability is the overriding factor in recommending this superior DVR, they have over 300 systems installed in the marketplace, running on Win 2000 or XP, with NTFS partitions, a simple and easy to use setup, Vision Catcher's DVR has proved to be very reliable and is a Secure Solution."

LAN and WAN requirements

GoLogix's IT Project Support Manager Christo, commented: "We wanted a system that we could network with ease. As soon as the installation was completed we were amazed at how simple it was to completely network the SecureVu Novex system into GoLogix's own network. Our aim is to have all of the National GoLogix branches setup on one national WAN. The SecureVu Novex gives us this complete solution - this is a great step forward from the systems of the past."

Training

TVMS's Project Manager, Kieran Elliot, who supervised key elements of the installation and worked in complete coordination with the GoLogix IT Department says, "We are giving GoLogix a major helping hand in their desire to speed up package delivery, reduce on sloppy handling procedures as well as identifying theft and other malpractices likely to damage the company's ability to provide the premier delivery service for South Africa."

Elliot went on to say, "With the training given to the key operators we know that they are perfectly happy with the on-site operation of the SecureVu Novex. Pulldown help files and manuals, then add to this the easy-to-use networking abilities as well as the total remote control of all functions including PTZ, playback, recorder scheduling amongst many other utility functions. GoLogix's directors are delighted to be using a system where they can see what is going on 24/7; all from the PC in their office or their laptop at home or even on the road."

Elliot concludes that the IT Department's main comment was, "Knowing that the SecureVu Novex system runs on Win 2000 and Win XP just adds to our existing Windows 2000 network, giving us the interactivity and confidence of a stable platform we know inside out, it is likely we will look to use these SecureVu Novex DVRs in our other national branches."

The finished job

TVMS completed the installation of 32 cameras covering each and every entrance and exit to the GoLogix, Jet Park f acility. Two KD-6 Domes on a standard set-up tour facility combined with all but two static cameras running in scheduled mode to cover all that happens on a 24-hour basis 365 days of the year. Two cameras running in Alarm Motion Detection mode to catch key incidents in two main areas with a pre-alarm ability to catch information immediately prior to the event. Over 4,5 km of cabling in bosal tubing, protective housings, cabinets, PA systems, amongst other components have given GoLogix the total solution they were looking for.
