DLP in-cabinet fire suppression systems

Issue 2 2021 Fire & Safety

BlazeCut C-Series systems supplied by Technoswitch provide automatic fire suppression systems for indoor protection. The systems operate with Novec 1230 clean agent, the ideal choice to protect sensitive devices because it leaves no residues after extinguishing. The agent is completely non-corrosive, electrically non-conductive, safe for people, and suitable for Class A, Class B, and Class C fires. It also has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and a global warming potential (GWP) of less than 1.

System operation is based on a pneumatic detection tubing technology that is sensitive to high temperatures. The pneumatic tube is pressurised with nitrogen to 15 bar. When a fire occurs, the heat build-up causes the tube to burst at approximately 170°C, which releases the suppressant. The C-Series system is a direct low pressure (DLP) system and operates automatically and independently of any power supply, a key advantage because it functions effectively and suppresses fire even when the area is unoccupied. Different size kits are available, ranging from 1 kg through to 8 kg cylinder sizes.

With the addition of a pressure switch, the system can be monitored for leaks or activation, either by connection to a third-party fire detection control panel or the BlazeCut 200 Series alarm panel.

Typical applications include CNC machines, server racks, electrical cabinets, fume cabinets, power generators, telecom tower shelters, ventilation devices and elevator engines.
